April 17th, 2014
Dear Parents of Litchfield Community Schools Students,
I am sure that you are well aware of the high number of school days that have been canceled this school year due to inclement weather. In total, we have missed twelve days of school. The State "forgives" us for the first six days or equivalent hours, but requires us to to make up any additional days beyond the first six. We therefore are required to make up an additional six school days. The original school calendar listed the last day for students to be Wednesday, June 4, 2014, but this ending date will be changed as follows:
Everything scheduled up through Wednesday, June 4, will be as planned, except exams will not be given on June 3rd or 4th.
- Thursday, June 5th, will be a full day of classes.
- Friday, June 6th, will be a full day.
- Monday, June 9th, will be a full day.
- Tuesday, June 10th, will be a full day.
- Wednesday, June 11th, will be half day of classes - Exams
- Thursday, June 12th, will be a half day - Exams, and will be the last day for students.
This revised calendar is based on the assumption that we will have no more cancellations. We are most likely beyond "snow days", but severe spring weather has been know to knock out power. Hopefully we will have no more cancellations to deal with.
Thank you for your understanding as we delay somewhat the start of summer.
